Kuantan, 25 August – UMP has hosted two international conferences, The 4th International Conference on Software Engineering & Computer Systems (ICSECS 2015) with the theme “Virtuous Software Solutions for Big Data” and The 2nd International Conference on Computational Science and Information Management (ICoCSIM - 2015) with the theme “Utilizing Current Innovations of IT for a Better World”.

These two conferences are organised by the Faculty of Computer Systems & Software Engineering (FSKKP) in collaboration with Universiti Sumatera Utara, Politeknik Negeri Medan dan Amik  -Stikom Tunas Bangsa, Indonesia.

These conferences have been held at the Swiss Garden Beach Resort Kuantan for three consecutive days, 19, 20 and 21 August 2015. The first day was started off with the opening speech by ICSECS 2015 and ICOCSIM 2015 Chair, Dr Mazlina Abdul Majid followed by three keynote speeches by three distinguished keynote speakers. The first speech was delivered by Professor Dr Rajkumar Buyya,  a famous scholar in Cloud Computing from the University of Melbourne, Australia,  with the title “Market-Oriented Clouds and Big Data Applications”.  The second speech was delivered by Professor Dr Kamal Zuhairi Zamli from UMP with the title “Exploiting Nature Inspired Algorithms for Combinatorial Interaction Testing”. The third keynote speaker, Professor Dr Jurg Gutknecht, who developed (together with Niklaus Wirth) the programming language Oberon and the corresponding operating system Oberon has shared his passion through his speech with the title “Medical IT: The Next Megatrend?”.

A total number of about 110 papers were submitted in which only half of the submitted papers have made it to the conferences. The accepted papers were presented in three parallel sessions on 19 and 20 August.

The conference dinner was held in the evening of 20 August where the highlights of the night include a closing speech by the conference Co-Chair,  Best Paper Awards and lucky draws. Finally, on 21 August, the organiser arranged a tour for the participants where they were brought to visit some places of attractions in Kuantan including Sungai Lembing Mines Museum and Pusat Tenun Pahang.
