In a groundbreaking move, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah marked its debut on the international stage by participating in the University CTF 2023: Brains & Bytes, a three-day Capture The Flag (CTF) competition that brought together a staggering 995 teams comprising 6660 players from across the globe. The event took place from December 8th, 9:00 PM to December 11th, 5:00 AM.

The university's team, consisting of 30 talented students, showcased exceptional skills, securing an impressive ranking of 390 out of the 995 participating teams. The achievement is a testament to the dedication and prowess of the students who engaged in an intellectually rigorous battle of wits and cybersecurity challenges.

Adding a unique touch to the competition, En Abdullah, the team advisor, orchestrated an unforgettable experience by organizing an overnight camping session within the confines of the faculty lab. This distinctive approach not only fostered teamwork and camaraderie but also provided the students with an immersive learning experience.

Some of our team members even had the opportunity to sleep overnight in tents pitched right inside the lab, creating a surreal environment conducive to collaboration and problem-solving.

Amidst the intense competition and CTF challenges, the students found solace in recreational activities. Stress-relief became a priority, and the team engaged in friendly matches of badminton and ping pong inside the faculty. These moments of relaxation not only rejuvenated the participants but also served as a reminder that balance is key even in the most competitive environments.

Reflecting on the experience, one team member remarked, "This is truly a one-of-a-kind adventure. We not only expanded our cybersecurity skills but also forged bonds that will last a lifetime. En Abdullah's innovative approach made the event memorable and enjoyable."
