Team CyberX - Students from Faculty of Computing UMPSA Win Prestigious Award as Champions of Astro-NACSA Coding Challenge 2024

30 July 2024 , PUTRAJAYA – In a remarkable achievement, students from the Faculty of Computing at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) have been crowned the champions of the Astro-NACSA Coding Challenge 2024 (ANCC2024). This prestigious accolade was presented by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim at the Cyber Security Summit 2024, held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

The winning team, CyberX, composed of Logathepan A/L Muniyappan, Yattish A/L Jaya Nanda Kumar, and Shatthiya Ganes A/L Sivakumaran, demonstrated exceptional skill and innovation in addressing critical cybersecurity challenges. Their project, Cipherkey, is a sophisticated password management application designed to enhance digital security. Key features of Cipherkey include robust encryption, threat detection, security analytics, an AI chatbox, and URL checking.

This national competition, organized by the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) and Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad, involved participants from both public and private universities. The goal was to develop innovative mobile applications that could detect and address cybersecurity threats.

Celebrating Innovation and Excellence

The success of Team CyberX underscores the high standard of innovation and technical expertise at UMPSA. The team’s victory was celebrated not only with awards and prizes sponsored by international tech giants BlackBerry-CompTIA, Cisco, and Huawei but also with significant recognition at the national level.

Logathepan, on behalf of Team CyberX, expressed heartfelt gratitude to their advisor, Ts. Dr. Nor Saradatul Akmar Zulkifli, for her invaluable support and guidance. “We are also deeply thankful to our sponsors, BlackBerry-CompTIA, Cisco, and Huawei, for their generous support,” said Logathepan. “This achievement would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of my teammates, Shatthiya Ganes and Yattish Veran. Their teamwork was crucial to our success.”
