From Campus to Cyber Frontlines: UMPSA Students Dive into Real-World Cybersecurity at BlackBerry Cybersecurity Center of Excellence
CYBERJAYA, 29 May 2025 — A total of 75 undergraduate students and three Senior Lecturers from the Faculty of Computing, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) participated in an industrial visit to the BlackBerry Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE) in Cyberjaya.
The visit aimed to enhance students' understanding of cybersecurity through exposure to industry practices and insights. During the program, students attended two awareness modules:
--Cybersecurity Awareness
--Introduction to Mobile Security Technology
These sessions provided students with knowledge about current cyber threats, the importance of cybersecurity practices, and the evolution of mobile security technologies.
Accompanying the students were Senior Lecturers Ts. Dr. Hoh Wei Siang, Ts. Dr. Nabilah Filzah Mohd Radzuan, and Ts. Dr. Muhammad 'Arif bin Mohamad, who emphasized the value of such industry engagements in bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world applications.
"This visit plays a vital role in exposing our students to actual industry environments and equipping them with current knowledge and skills that go beyond textbooks," said Ts. Dr. Hoh Wei Siang, coordinator of the visit. “Partnerships like this help build future-ready graduates aligned with industry needs.”
The visit also included a guided tour of the BlackBerry CCoE facilities, allowing students to observe the professional environment and ongoing initiatives in cybersecurity.
This initiative reflects the Faculty of Computing’s commitment to producing industry-aware graduates and fostering strong ties with key players in the tech industry.
